Stjärngraven Grave of Secrets

The Bohus Coast Trilogy #2

What really happened when Dad died? For nearly a thousand days, Alva has been wondering about this, and now she has decided to find out the truth. At the same time, her mother is trying to move on with her life, looking forward to opening a café in a boathouse she recently bought. But something seems to be wrong with the boathouse.

Meanwhile, a little girl and her mother arrive at Hovenäset. Alva senses that something isn’t right about the woman, and the mysteries only deepen. A cat begins following Alva around town, and at night she hears eerie noises. It sounds like her father is sneaking around outside her bedroom door, but he’s been dead for years. Soon, Alva realizes that she is in danger. Some secrets are simply meant to be left alone…

Grave of Secrets is the second installment in The Bohus Coast Trilogy, where the three friends Heidi, Alva, and Harry spend their summer holiday with dark secrets and cruel events from the past.

Reviews

  • “A truly thrilling and slightly heart-breaking story about dark secrets and cruel events from the past that the children Alva, Heidi, and Harry find themselves caught up in.”

    Tessansboktips, Sweden

  • “Kristina Ohlsson knows exactly how to write eerie, captivating stories. If only I had gotten to read this when I was a kid, I would have loved it. But honestly, it’s no less of a treat to read it now, because I’m enjoying it a lot. The story gets scarier as you go. I can really feel the chills running down my spine. /…/ Beyond the spookiness and suspense, there are plenty of other things that show just how skilled a writer Kristina Ohlsson is. The grief over her father dying is beautifully portrayed, the emotions come through clearly and you really feel with Alva. /…/ In other words, this is the perfect book to dive into on fall break and the days that follow.”

    Boktokig, Sweden

  • “Wow, what a thrilling page-turner! Kristina Ohlsson delivers high-level suspense, as always. /…/ At times, it’s very intense, so kids looking for scary books will definitely enjoy this one. The language flows effortlessly, you really can’t put it down. You just have to find out what happens next.”

    Boksloken, Sweden

  • “Enjoyable reading! The books are perfectly written, filled so many mysterious and strange events that I, as a reader, can’t make sense of or predict their meaning, and I love it! When Kristina Ohlsson is at her best, she is an incredible author, and this book is one of her best ones.”

    Barnboksanalyser, Sweden

  • “Kristina Ohlsson may be Sweden’s best horror writer for young readers. She combines crime fiction, horror, and the supernatural seamlessly. She has a unique talent for suddenly introducing horror and the supernatural into a realistic crime fiction story – from one page to another. Suddenly, your surroundings seem to tremble when you’re reading Kristina Ohlsson. This happens several times in Grave of Secrets, a very thrilling, well-written and strong story – and maybe a bit scary– for younger readers (…).”

    Deckarlogg, Sweden

  • “Kristina Ohlsson is, in my opinion, one of Sweden’s best suspense writers for middle grade readers. /…/ This is a really good series that makes you want to keep reading. A must-have for school libraries, and perfect for the kids who devour middle grade thrillers.”

    Barnboksfamiljen, Sweden

  • “Just like the predecessor, Grave of Secrets is a very well-written and exciting middle grade book. The chapters are just the right length and almost all end with a cliffhanger, so that once you start reading, it’s hard to stop.”
