Operation Racing Stripes and Other Mysteries, Jørn Lier Horst & Hans Jørgen Sandnes’ latest title in the Detective Agency No. 2 series, is No. 1 for the third week in a row on the official Norwegian bestseller list for children’s books. Stefan Ahnhem’s An Entirely Different Story meanwhile debuts on the e-book list, going straight to No. 4.
SVT has unveiled the trailer for the upcoming crime drama series The Detective from Beledweyne, created and written by Aron Levander.
The six-episode series is directed by Zaida Bergroth and stars Malin Levanon and Nasir Dhagole.
The Detective from Beledweyne will premiere on SVT Play March 10 and on SVT1 March 13.
Martin Widmark and Emilia Dziubak’s Dreams of Near and Far has been chosen by the United States Board on Books for Young People as one of the Outstanding International Picture Books for 2023.
The USBBY’s Outstanding International Books List is an influential list and has been published annually since 2006 and holds large influence on the American market for children’s books. A committee selects books that represent the best of children’s literature from other countries based on a number of criteria such as uniqueness and artistic and literary merit.
Erik Axl Sund’s Paper Souls claims the No. 7 on Der Spiegel’s bestseller list for trade paperback this week, making it the title’s sixth consecutive week on the list.

Ia Genberg’s award-winning The Details has been nominated for the 2022 Magazine Vi’s Literary Award.
The jury’s motivation reads as follows:
“With humor and thorough melancholy, in The Details, Ia Genberg shows how we prevail through each other. The novel portrays and casts light on four relationships which once shook existence. With a meticulous psychological ear, the past is written just as vividly as life itself.”
The award was founded in 1947 and has been granted to Astrid Lindgren, Mikael Niemi, Sara Stridsberg, and Lina Wolff amongst others.

This year, the Crosses of Merit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are awarded to diplomats and partners from Estonia and beyond for their notable contribution to the Estonian foreign service, foreign policy objectives and Estonian statehood.
Sofi Oksanen received the Cross of Merit, Second Class, by virtue of having raised awareness of Estonian history, and boosting Estonia’s profile internationally, through her writing.
As Amazon UK lists their Top 20 Most Sold Books of the Week, Fredrik Backman’s A Man Called Ove claims the No. 2 spot in the fiction category.

Anders Rydell’s The Book Thieves has been nominated for the much distinguished Hislibris Historical Literature Awards in the category Best Historical Non-fiction.
Hislibris is the largest community of history bloggers in Spain, and each year, its members vote for their favorite books. The winner of each category will then be chosen by a jury consisting of members of the Hispanic community.
