Ulf Lundell (b. 1949) is arguably one of Sweden’s most influential cultural figures. Composer, songwriter, musician, artist and poet, Ulf Lundell is also a widely read novelist. His debut novel Jack landed like a bomb in the dull literary landscape of the 70s, became an immediate bestseller, and has continued to inspire generations of readers since, giving Scandinavia a Kerouac of its own in the process. Though his themes have changed and grown in complexity over the years, Lundell’s writing retains the freshness that once earned him cult status: free-spirited and bursting with emotion, associative and immediate, his novels speak of what it is to be human.
