Tove Eriksen Hillblom

Tove Eriksen Hillblom is an acclaimed screenwriter with several hit series under her belt. She has a fondness for exploring the borderland between darkness and humor and poking at people’s inadequacies. Eriksen Hillblom has a background in advertising, having successfully worked as a copywriter and winning numerous international awards. Among else she has been awarded at Cannes Lions, the One Show, Eurobest, Epica and the Golden Egg Awards. At Cannes Lions she was also named one of twelve creative leaders of the future.

Having always dreamed of pursuing a career as a screenwriter and truly delve into her stories, she began writing for TV. 2014-2015 she wrote for the series Inte OK!, and in 2019 for the lauded TV show Solsidan. In 2020 she was head writer of the second and third season of the popular series Sjölyckan. Inte OK!, Solsidan and Sjölyckan have all been nominated for ‘Best Comedy’ at the Swedish TV Awards Kristallen.

2022 saw the premiere of the praised Vi i villa (Suburbia) on Discovery + for which Eriksen Hillblom was head writer. Vi i villa received fantastic reviews and was nominated for the prestigious 2022 Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize for outstanding writing on a Nordic Drama series.

The first season of the warm and dark comedy drama The Meaning of Life premiered on Viaplay in December 2022, of which Eriksen Hillblom is creator and writer together with Maria Nygren. Production on a second season is already underway.

‘Detective #24,’ ‘Blackwater,’ ‘The Meaning of Life’ and ‘No Angel’ nominated for the Kristallen Awards

The nominations are out for this year’s Kristallen Awards. Aron Levander’s Detective #24 is nominated for Best Drama Series, together with Blackwater which is written by Karin Arrhenius and Maren Louise Käehne.

Tove Eriksen Hillblom’s The Meaning of Life is nominated for Best Comedy and No Angel, directed by Tuna Özer, received a nomination for Best Teen Drama.

The Kristallen Awards ceremony will be held August 28 at Cirkus in Stockholm and will be aired live on SVT.

‘The Meaning of Life’ to premiere on Viaplay

A warm and dark comedy drama, The Meaning of Life is a series created and written by Tove Eriksen Hillblom and Maria Nygren.

The series revolves around the sisters Alva and Ellen and their families. Alva wants nothing more than to become a mother, the only problem is that it seems impossible. Ellen wants nothing more than to stop being a mother, the only problem is that she already has three kids. The two sisters are close friends who tell each other everything. At the same time, there is a certain jealousy between them; Alva is jealous that Ellen got what Alva herself most of all longs for, while Ellen is jealous of Alva’s freedom.

The first season will premiere on Viaplay December 11, and production on a second season is already underway. Filming for season 2 is scheduled to begin in early 2023.

‘The Congregation’, ‘Suburbia’, ‘The Truth Will Out’ and ‘The Dark Heart’ nominated for the Kristallen Awards

The nominations are out for this year’s Kristallen Awards. The Congregation (Knutby), written by Fredrik Agetoft, takes the lead with a staggering five nominations, including for Best Drama Series’. The Truth Will Out (Det som göms i snö), created by Aron Levander and Hans Jörnlind, and The Dark Heart (Mörkt hjärta), created by Oskar Söderlund and Gustav Möller are also nominated for Best Drama Series’. 

Suburbia (Vi i villa), written by Tove Eriksen Hillblom, is nominated for Best Comedy.

The Kristallen Awards ceremony will be held September 1 at Cirkus in Stockholm and will be transmitted live on TV4 and TV4 Play.
