Kristina Ohlsson is shortlisted for this year’s BookBeat Award in the “Crime Writer of the Year” category. The winner will be determined based on the audiobook service’s statistics from the past year.
The winning authors and titles will be announced during the Crimetime Awards ceremony at the Gothenburg Book Fair on September 28.
The second installment in Anders de la Motte’s bestselling Leo Asker series, The Glass Man, shoots to No.1 on the bestseller list for paperbacks this week.
Kristina Ohlsson the most sold of quarter two in Sweden
The comprehensive sales statistics for Q2 2024 have been published, and the fourth installment in the August Strindberg series, Beyond Rescue, is the No. 1 most sold title on both the fiction list and the one for total sales. The lists highlight the top 20 bestsellers based on sales value, with total sales including all print and digital formats combined.
‘The Guilt You Carry’ and ‘Death on Capri’ on the Swedish bestseller list
The eight installment in Hjorth & Rosenfeldt’s thrilling Sebastian Bergman series The Guilt You Carrycomes in at No. 2 on the bestseller list for paperback this week. Meanwhile, Anders & Anette de la Motte’s murder mystery Death on Capri, claims the No. 5 spot on the hardcover list.
‘Beyond Rescue’ No. 2 on the Swedish bestseller list for the second quarter
The official statistics of the bestselling titles in Sweden during the second quarter of 2024 have just been published. The fourth book in Kristina Ohlsson’s bestselling August Strindberg series, Beyond Rescue, is No. 2 in the hardcover category.
Exclusive first trailer of Øystein Karlsen’s ‘So Long, Marianne’
An exclusive first trailer of So Long, Marianne, the Norwegian-Canadian drama series about the life of Leonard Cohen created by Øystein Karlsen, has just been released on Deadline.
The eight-part series tells the story of the Canadian singer and poet’s love story with Marianne Ihlen, who became his muse after they got together in the 1960s and is an intimate tale of two, lonely people falling in love, during a period of their life when they are trying to figure out who they are and their place in the world, while one is becoming one of the most famous singers of all time.
Alex Wolff (A Quiet Place: Day One, Oppenheimer) plays Cohen, with Thea Sofie Loch Næss (The Last Kingdom, Delete Me,) playing Marianne. Also cast are Anna Torv (The Newsreader, The Last of Us, Mindhunter), Noah Taylor (Preacher, Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones) and Peter Stormare (American Gods, Fargo).
The show premieres on NRK in Norway and German streaming pubcaster ARD Mediathek on September 22 before launching on Crave five days later. Further rollout follows later in the year.

Ellen Helinder, Kelly Gale, Agnes Kittelsen and Frank Kjosås join the cast of ‘Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole’
It’s now official that Ellen Helinder, Kelly Gale, Agnes Kittelsen and Frank Kjosås are joining the star-studded cast of Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole, Netflix’s forthcoming crime series based on the Harry Hole novels from Jo Nesbø.
Director Anna Zackrisson (Deliver Me, The Helicopter Heist) has also joined the production, which as previously reported, will star Tobias Santelmann, Joel Kinnaman and Pia Tjelta. Created and written by Nesbø, the show’s other director is Øystein Karlsen. The cast will also include Peter Stormare, Simon Berger and Anders Baasmo, among else.
Tor Arne Øvrebø is producing the series, which hails from Working Title Television and Universal International Studios. Executive producers include Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Katy Rozelle, Rene Ezra, Øystein Karlsen, Jo Nesbø, Niclas Salomonsson. The show is slated to debut on Netflix in 2026.

‘The Swedish Torpedo’ to premiere at Toronto International Film Festival
The period drama The Swedish Torpedo, directed by Frida Kempff, will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this September.
The Swedish Torpedo is set in 1939 and follows the story of Sally Bauer as she pursues her dream of becoming the first Scandinavian woman to swim across the English Channel.
The cast is lead by Josefin Neldén (Border, 438 Days) as Sally Bauer, with Mikkel Boe Følsgaard (A Royal Affair, Borgen) and Lisa Carlehed (The Emigrants) supporting.
A touching and poignant tale of an aging father and his middle-aged daughter, exploring themes of nurturing and reconciliation, and the profound layers of life often hidden from those closest to us – a story about love, and about making things right, before it’s too late.
