Today is the first date of shooting for Operation Shadowman, the film based on the immensely popular and No. 1 bestselling Norwegian children’s book series by Jørn Lier Horst & Hans Jørgen Sandnes, Detective Agency No. 2.

The film, which will be based on the book Operation Shadowman, will be produced by Filmkameratene in collaboration with Zefyr Media Fund. Grethe Bøe-Waal, the award-winning scriptwriter and director of Operation Arctic, has written the script and will be directing.

Jørn Lier Horst: “Detective Agency No. 2 and Operation Shadowman is the first thing I’ve written that will be adapted for film. It’s going to be a thrill, but I have great faith in Filmkameratene. It will probably be most thrilling of all for those sitting in the movie theater.”

The second season of Mammon, written and created by Gjermund Stenberg Eriksen together with Vegard Stenberg Eriksen, was today nominated for an International Emmy Award in the category ‘Best Drama’. The 45th International Emmy Awards will take place on November 20, 2017.

Mammon (2014-2016), first aired by Norwegian public broadcasting company NRK, has become an internationally acclaimed show with great reviews as well as an average of 1.3 million viewers per episode, the second highest TSR-rating on NRK to that date. The Guardian proclaimed the show to be “Exactly what you want from Scandinavian quality crime”.

Niklas Natt och Dag (b. 1979) debuted as an author with the historical literary novel 1793. Natt och Dag himself has an undeniable connection to Swedish history, being a member of the oldest surviving noble family in Sweden. When he isn’t writing or reading, Natt och Dag enjoys playing the guitar, mandolin, violin, or the Japanese bamboo flute, shakuhachi.

Tom Hanks will star as Ove in the American remake of A Man Called Ove, based on the international bestseller by Fredrik Backman and its Swedish film adaptation produced by SF Studios and written and directed by Hannes Holm. Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman will produce the movie together with Rita Wilson and Fredrik Wikström Nicastro at SF Studios.

Jo Nesbø’s The Thirst, the eleventh Harry Hole novel, has gone straight to No. 2 on Der Spiegel’s bestseller list for hardcover fiction after being published in Germany just last Friday.

Arne Dahl’s Hinterlands meanwhile claims the No. 2 spot on Der Spiegel’s paperback list. This marks Hinterlands’ third week on the list.
