Big win for ‘A Better Man’ and Anders Baasmo at Canneseries

The Norwegian drama A Better Man (Ølhunden Berit) had its world premiere at this year’s Canneseries, and at yesterday’s award ceremony, it took home both Best Series and Best Performance for lead actor Anders Baasmo.

In A Better Man, a Norwegian internet troll with misogynistic tendencies has his identity revealed. To avoid prosecution, he assumes a female identity, an act that unexpectedly exposes him to gender bias. A thrilling and decidedly contemporary series that will surely spark conversation and will definitely leave no one indifferent. The quarterly Swedish bestseller lists

Marking the end of the first quarter of 2025, the Swedish bestseller lists sees Lars Kepler’s The Sleepwalker at No. 2 in the fiction category, while Lisa Ridzén’s When The Cranes Fly South claims the No. 6 spot, closely followed by Pascal Engman’s No One at No. 8.

In the children’s category, Martin Widmark claims three spots with The Football Mystery at No. 3, The Space Mystery at No. 4, and The Diamond Mystery at No. 8.

Lisa Ridzén tops the paperback category with When The Cranes Fly South, while Niklas Natt och Dag’s Hope and Destiny holds steady at No. 9. The audio category also sees Pascal Engman and Johannes Selåker’s The Albino at No. 9, while Ridzén’s debut holds the No. 9 spot in the e-book category.

‘Yani’ to become a TV series on SVT

Nora Khalil’s award-winning and critically acclaimed debut novel Yani will become a TV series on SVT. With warmth and humor, the series depicts the friendship between teenagers Rayan, Caspian and Amir in the Stockholm suburb of Alby, where dreams of the future and friendships are put to the test. SF Studios is producing with co-producers SVT and Film Stockholm. Shooting is set to start this summer.

Tuna Özer is directing and the script is written by Jessika Jankert.

‘The Glass Dome’ topping Netflix’s charts

Viewers are gripped by Netflix’s new crime thriller The Glass Dome and have raved over its haunting twists and terrific ending. The series has been praised by critics and viewers alike, and has a fantastic Rotten Tomatoes score.

The Glass Dome premiered on Netflix on April 15 and immediately entered the top of the charts, currently in second place on the global toplist. Futhermore, it features among the Top-10 in over 80 countries, becoming the number-one most popular show in 16 of them.

The six-part series is created by Camilla Läckberg, with Henrik Björn and Lisa Farzaneh directing. The strong cast is led by Léonie Vincent, Johan Hedenberg and Johan Rheborg.

Jo Nesbø’s Wolf Hour remains firmly at the top of the hardcover chart. In the e-book category, Pascal Engman’s No One, takes the No. 1. Meanwhile, Jørn Lier Horst’s Dry Land comes in at No. 1 on the paperback list.

‘Blinded’ to premiere on TV4

The acclaimed financial thriller series Blinded (Fartblinda) is returning for its anticipated third season on TV4 Play Plus on April 23, 2025, with linear broadcasts following on TV4 and TV4 Play starting May 7.

Blinded Season 3 is directed by Jens Jonsson and Johan Lundin, and written by Jens Jonsson, Daniel Sawka and Henrik Zammel.

Actors Julia Ragnarsson and Maxwell Cunningham are joined by Arvin Kananinan, Julia Dufvenius, Albin Grenholm, Peter Eggers and Nina Mårshagen among others.
