Den sanna tomten – Lady Gurgelum och jag The True Santa

Marion and her family are, as usual, going away for Christmas, because Dad, for some mysterious reason, hates Christmas. But as they’re about to leave, Dad’s estranged sister calls them. Instead of going to sunny Italy, they have to go to a cold, secluded island far out at sea.

But what are those red things that keep popping up everywhere? And why are the lights on in the closed convenience store, the store that they’re absolutely not allowed to visit? Does Dad have even BIGGER secrets than a sister his kids didn’t know about?

The True Santa is a page-turning, humorous and magical Christmas adventure. A delightful read-aloud in 24 chapters, for the whole family.

Reviews

  • “The classic Christmas theme of saving Christmas is here skillfully realized through a fun, modern, and original narrative concept and – as a bonus – in the form of an Advent calendar book. As befits a Christmas story, there is both adventure, humor, and touching moments to be found here. The story carries an important message: “Everyone should do what they enjoy and what makes them happy!” Sometimes it’s worth breaking away from tradition, preconceived notions, and thinking that “because that’s how it’s always been” it’s the only option. Then, for example, you might discover that vegan sausages in a bun are the best Christmas Eve dish!”

  • “We’re here treated to a break-neck, humorous and zany Christmas adventure. /…/ The illustrations are charming, vibrant and loaded with emotion. The narrative also explores big secrets, fears and the importance of getting to be just who you want to be, no matter your heritage or traditions.”

  • “Here comes a Christmas calendar in the form of a book. If you’re ready to embrace the magic of Christmas, you simply have to tag along to a secretive island where nothing is as it seems at first glance. /…/ Chapter by chapter the incredible tale about the true Santa unravels and both characters and readers alike are taught how the strong traditions and expectations of Christmas can still be compatible with renewal. A read-aloud book that is also well-suited for the slightly older children who can read themselves.”

  • The True Santa is a well-written book full of humor. The story has an intensity that keeps the reader engaged and eager to continue. The characters are entertaining, especially the younger sister, whose drive and strong will make her a driving force in many situations. The illustrations are rich in color and often reflect the emotional shifts in the text. The lively images create a warm Christmas atmosphere, while the Christmas-hating father undergoes a radical transformation at the end and embraces the holiday with open arms. All in all, this is a well-crafted feel-good book with high entertainment value.”
