The Scottish police drama Crime, developed and written by Trainspotting‘s Irvine Welsh together with Dean Cavanagh, is based on Welsh’s own novel of the same name and will arrive on ITVX on September 21. The second season is directed by Trygve Allister Diesen and Anthony Neilson.

Dougray Scott’s performance in the first season recently landed him an International Emmy nomination for Best Actor, and in this second season, he’ll be leading a star-studded cast of British talent, including Joanna Vanderham and John Simm.

The first Nordic Original from Disney+, To Cook a Bear, has started filming. Trygve Allister Diesen is directing and the script is penned by Jesper Harrie. The star-studded cast includes Gustav Skarsgård, Emil Kárlsen, Ane Dahl Torp, Tyra Wingren, Magnus Krepper, Pernilla August, Simon J. Berger, Jonas Karlsson and Johan Widerberg.

Disney+ has greenlit their first Nordic original series, To Cook A Bear, which is based on Mikael Niemi’s bestselling novel of the same name.

The six-part series takes place in the summer of 1852 in the village of Kengis, far north in Sweden. In the epic grandeur of the Northern polar landscape, we meet the newly appointed Pastor and his family. While the Pastor has a spiritual awakening which profoundly impacts the Sami and Tornedalians, the body of a shepherd’s girl is found inside a bog. Soon the villagers set out in search of the killer bear they fear is on the rampage.

Trygve Allister Diesen is set to direct, and Jesper Harrie is penning the adaptation, with Anagram Sweden producing.

The third season of the successful crime drama Wisting will premiere on Viaplay on Sunday April 10. The four episodes are based on the novel The Night Man by acclaimed author Jørn Lier Horst.

Carrie-Anne Moss, who starred in season one as FBI Special Agent Maggie Griffin, will come back for this season.

Trygve Allister Diesen, who created Wisting together with Kathrine Valen Zeiner, is director as well as head writer.

The official trailer for the second season of Wisting, the internationally lauded TV series based on Jørn Lier Horst’s bestselling books about police inspector William Wisting, has been released.

Mystery Writers of America have announced the nominees for the coveted Edgar Allan Poe Award, a prestigious award for excellence in the mystery genre, and Wisting is nominated for ‘Best TV Episode Teleplay’.

The detective series is based on Jørn Lier Horst’s bestselling books about police inspector William Wisting and is co-created and written by director Trygve Allister Diesen and Katherine Valen Zeiner. Wisting is streaming on Sundance Now in the U.S. and airing on BBC Four in the UK.

The winners will be presented at the Edgar Awards gala on April 30, 2020.

The rights to the successful detective series Wisting have been snapped up by Sundance Now and will launch in the U.S. on December 18. Wisting has also been acquired by BBC Four and will hit UK screens later this year.

The wait is almost over for this spring’s great crime drama Wisting, Norway’s biggest ever drama production. On April 11, two episodes will be released on the Viaplay streaming service, and the first episode will air on TV3 Norway.

The series is based on two of Jørn Lier Horst’s bestselling novels about policeman William Wisting: The Caveman and The Hunting Dogs. The much-anticipated crime series is directed by Trygve Allister Diesen, who is also the writer and creator together with Kathrine Valen Zeiner.

Trygve Allister Diesen is one of Norway’s most prolific directors and manuscript writers, known for taking on thriller, crime and human drama projects focusing on visceral, cinematic storytelling and emotional yet grounded performances.

His feature Hold My Heart (2002) was chosen as Norway’s submission to the Oscars, while his third film and English-language debut Red (2008) premiered at Sundance, starring Brian Cox in an award-winning performance.

Diesen is currently attached to the TV series Wisting, Norway’s biggest-ever drama production, based on the renowned literary series by Jørn Lier Horst. Besides being the director, Diesen is one of the much-anticipated crime series’ writers and creators. Wisting will premiere on Viaplay in 2019.
