Jo Nesbø’s The Snowman, the seventh installment in the Harry Hole series, is No. 1 on the paperback bestseller list at Bog & idé. Arne Dahl’s Watching You claims the No. 4 spot on the same list. At Arnold Busck Hinterlands, the second installment in Arne Dahl’s series about Berger and Blom, is No. 4 on the crime fiction list while Watching You climbs to No. 2 on the paperback list. Bog & idé and Arnold Busck are the two biggest book retailers in Denmark.

Katrine Engberg has been shortlisted for the 2017 Author of the Year Award by the Danish book chain Plusbog. The winner will be announced at Bogforum in Copenhagen on November 10th.

Indie production company No Trace Camping is set to produce Fredrik Backman’s novella The Deal of a Lifetime. The book, to be published in the US by Atria on October 31st, tells the story of a man who’s sacrificed his family in his single-minded pursuit of success, and the courageous little girl fighting for her life who crosses his path.

Jeff Arkuss, David Gross and Jesse Shapira of No Trace Camping will produce the picture, while Backman, Neda Shafti Backman and Tor Jonasson will serve as executive producers.

Anders Rydell (The Book Thieves, The Looters) has been invited to speak at the Library of Congress in Washington next week, on October 18th. The focus of the lecture will be Rydell’s research into the Nazi’s systematic pillaging of Europe’s libraries – public and private – and the book which Rydell wrote on the subject, The Book Thieves.

The Library of Congress, founded in 1800 by John Addams and Thomas Jeffersson, is the largest library in the world, housing millions of books, recordings, photographs, newspapers, maps and manuscripts in its collections. The Library is the main research arm of the U.S. Congress.

The lecture will be held in the Thomas Jeffersson Building, on October 18th, 3 p.m.

Stefan Ahnhem’s Eighteen Below Zero jumps up to No. 1 in its second week on the official Norwegian bestseller list for paperback novels. Eighteen Below Zero is the third installment in the internationally bestselling Fabian Risk series.

Jo Nesbø’s The Thirst remains at No. 2 for the third week in a row on Der Spiegel’s bestseller list for hardcover fiction. Arne Dahl’s Hinterlands also keeps its No. 2 spot on the paperback list. This is Hinterlands’ fifth week on the list.
