Dísa
Hildur #6
What happens when a person loses control of their thirst for revenge and their darkest desires?
The Chief of Police, Jakob Johanson, attends a midwinter feast with his girlfriend Guðrún’s family. The atmosphere is festive, with people dancing and enjoying one another’s company. The guests are just taking their seats around a table laden with traditional dishes when Jakob realizes that something is terribly wrong.
Meanwhile, detective Hildur Rúnarsdóttir and her partner, Einar, are investigating a strange crime in the village of Flateyri. What happened to a Finnish businessman in the upstairs rooms of a bookshop famous for its ghost stories?
Dísa has been working as a police informant, but the stream of criminal activity she has been reporting has dried up. With time on her hands, she decides to volunteer at a women’s shelter. Dísa knows what it feels like to be ignored, to have people look the other way when the police offer no help. She refuses to let anyone else suffer in silence or be forced to turn the other cheek.
In the depths of winter, a turning point in Hildur’s life brings her happiness. But in the Westfjords, revenge and the thirst for justice are drawing closer, and they are coming from the same direction.
