Jo Nesbø’s The Thirst, the eleventh installment in the Harry Hole series, was published by Modtryk in Denmark last week and is No. 1 on this week’s official bestseller list for hardcover fiction.
Today marks the beginning of the world launch of Jo Nesbø’s highly anticipated eleventh installment in the Harry Hole series, The Thirst. The novel is published in Norway, Sweden and Denmark today and 18 more markets will follow in the coming months. Within the coming year, the novel will be published in a total of 34 languages.
The Thirst continues the story of No. 1 bestseller Police, Harry Hole’s last outing in 2013, which saw the maverick cop protecting those closest to him from a killer wreaking revenge on the police.
The Thirst will see Harry drawn back to the Oslo police force when a serial killer begins targeting Tinder daters with a signature killing method that leads Harry on the hunt for a nemesis from his past.
Fredrik Backman continues his success on the New York Times Best Seller List with A Man Called Ove, holding firm at No. 2 also in its 63rd week, and My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry, following not far behind at No. 7 in its 47th week on the list.
Jørn Lier Horst & Hans Jørgen Sandnes’ Detective Agency No. 2 series reigns supreme on the February bestseller list for children’s books in Norway. The top 5 positions are all occupied by books from the immensely popular series for children aged 6-9. At No. 1 is the latest and eleventh book in the series, Operation Pirate. It is followed by Operation Plastic Bag at No. 2, Operation Windblast at No. 3, Operation Daffodil at No. 4, and Operation Bronze Square at No. 5.
The eleventh Harry Hole novel is already breaking records: the first print-run in Norway of The Thirst will be 300 000 copies, the largest ever in Norwegian publishing history.
The Thirst is being published in Norway on March 21st. The launch event for The Thirst starts March 20th, at 22:30p.m. Readers will be able to purchase a copy as soon as the clock strikes midnight.

Lars Kepler’s sixth novel in the Joona Linna series, The Rabbit Hunter, claims the No. 1 spot on the official Swedish bestseller list for fiction this February, with Leif GW Persson’s Can One Die Twice? following at No. 2. On the paperback list Ingar Johnsrud comes in at No. 3 with Those Who Follow, the first installment in his Fredrik Beier series.
The bestseller list for audiobooks is topped by Liza Marklund’s The Final Word, the eleventh and final novel featuring Annika Bengtzon. No. 2 on the list is Hjorth & Rosenfeldts Those Who Failed, and No. 3 is Jo Nesbø’s Midnight Sun. Lars Kepler’s The Rabbit Hunter makes a second appearance on the February list, on the audio book list’s No. 4 spot.
The drama thriller Farang premiered yesterday, Thursday March 9th, on broadcasting network C-More. The TV Series, written and created by Malin Lagerlöf and Stefan Thunberg, tells the story of Rickard, a man who was forced to flee Sweden after a bank robbery gone wrong. His decision not only means a great change to his own life, he’s also forced to leave his family behind, irreversibly changing the course of their lives as well. Ten years later Rickard is in Thailand, where he gets by as a petty criminal on the back streets of Phuket, all the while keeping his identity hidden because of the price on his head.
