Jo Nesbø has been announced as the winner of the Nordic Noir Thriller of the Year Award for The Thirst.
“His outstanding series featuring Detective Inspector Harry Hole has secured Jo Nesbø the undisputed position of Scandinavia’s leading crime writer.” says Carina Nunstedt, head of Sweden’s Crimetime Gotland, the organization behind the award.
Universal Pictures and Working Title Films have released the first trailer for The Snowman, starring Michael Fassbender (X-Men series), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and Charlotte Gainsbourg (Independence Day: Resurgence). The film is directed by Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), based on Jo Nesbø’s global bestseller, The Snowman.
Kristina Ohlsson’s Buried Lies, the first book in the Martin Benner diptych, is No. 5 on Der Spiegel’s bestseller list for paperbacks in Germany.
Lars Kepler’s sixth installment in the Joona Linna series, The Rabbit Hunter, is No. 1 on the paperback list in Norway.
Jo Nesbø’s The Thirst, the eleventh Harry Hole novel, is No. 2 on the official Norwegian bestseller list for June. Jørn Lier Horst & Hans Jørgen Sandnes are right behind at No. 3 with their The Search for The Thief’s Thief, the third activity book in the Detective Agency No. 2 series.
Kristina Ohlsson’s The Magical Heart has been shortlisted for 2017’s Swedish Radio’s Children’s Novel Award. The jury, consisting children from the fourth and fifth grade, will read the books during the summer and the winner will be announced this fall.
Jonas T. Bengtsson’s Sus has been shortlisted for 2018’s Danish Radio Literature Prize. The six titles competing for the award will be successively announced during the coming months, and starting in December, Danish Radio’s book clubs will read and discuss the titles. The winning novel and author will then be chosen by the book clubs’ votes and a jury. The result will be made public in June 2018.
Fredrik Backman’s Beartown has climbed to No. 4 on the Canadian bestseller list for hardcover fiction. Furthermore, Indigo, Canada’s biggest book retailer, has named Beartown one of the 6 best books published in Canada in 2017.
The first book in Bobbie Peers’ William Wenton series, William Wenton and the Luridium Thief, features in the new Guardian Best New Children’s Books Guide. The guide was distributed through the Guardian newspaper to celebrate Independent Bookshop week on Saturday, June 24th.
Fredrik Backman’s Beartown has been selected as one of the top 20 titles of 2017 by Amazon.com. The novel was also selected as one of the best books in the literature and fiction category.
