Arne Dahl’s first installment in the Berger & Blom series, Watching You, comes in at No. 1 on the official weekly Finnish bestseller list for paperbacks.
Jo Nesbø has been awarded the very prestigious Raymond Chandler Award 2018 for Lifetime Achievement. The Raymond Chandler Award was established by film critic and journalist Irene Bignardi in collaboration with the Raymond Chandler Estate and the award is given out annually to a master of noir fiction. Previous winners include Margaret Atwood, John Le Carré, John Grisham, P.D. James and Henning Mankell among others.
Jo Nesbø will be at the Noir in Festival in Como, Italy, on December 8th to receive the award in person.
Julie Andem’s SKAM Season 1: Eva makes its debut on the international bestseller lists even before its first publication abroad, claiming the No. 2 spot on Bokus’ bestseller list. Bokus is one of Sweden’s biggest online book retailers, and SKAM Season 1: Eva shoots to the top of the all-genres list solely based on its pre-publication sales.
Stina Jackson (b. 1983) hails from the northern town of Skellefteå in Sweden. Just over a decade ago she relocated to Denver, Colorado, where she penned her debut novel, the acclaimed The Silver Road. A runaway bestseller, the novel established Jackson as a rising new star within Nordic suspense.
Jonas Gardell’s In Memory of an Unconditional Love is No. 1 on the Swedish hardcover list for the first week of October. Gardell is joined by Liza Marklund, who comes in at No. 4 with her recently published Black Pearl Farm. Just after at No. 5 comes Stefan Ahnhem and Motive X, which also claims the No. 3 spot on the e-book list and the No. 4 spot on the audio list. Niklas Natt och Dag and The Wolf and the Watchman occupy the No. 3 spot on the paperback list, also coming in at No. 4 on the e-book list.
Jørn Lier Horst’s second Cold Case Quartet novel, The Innermost Room, comes in at No. 1 and No. 4 on the official weekly Norwegian bestseller lists for e-books and hardcovers, respectively.
A Fortunate Man, written by Anders August and directed by Bille August, premiered in Denmark on August 30th. The film, which is based on Nobel prize-winning author Henrik Pontoppidan’s 1898 novel Lykke-Per, has received outstanding reviews and was one of the three films shortlisted to be the Danish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards. A Fortunate Man is also set to air as a miniseries on Danish TV 2 in 2019, and it ranks as one of the most ambitious European series to date.

The official bestseller lists for the month of September see many familiar titles in the top spots. On the hardcover list Jonas Gardell’s In Memory of an Unconditional Love comes in at No. 2, also making an appearance at No. 5 on the e-book list. Stefan Ahnhem’s fourth Fabian Risk novel, Motive X, claims the No. 4 spot on the hardcover list.
The paperback list has Anders de la Motte and Deeds of Fall at No. 2, and Niklas Natt och Dag’s The Wolf and the Watchman at No. 3.
Jørn Lier Horst’s The Katharina Code claims the No. 2 spot on the e-book list.
Leif GW Persson’s Master Detective Willy: the Story of My Career meanwhile makes a repeat appearance on the nonfiction list, claiming the No. 5 spot.
And lastly on the children’s fiction list, Kristina Ohlsson’s third installment in the Monster Trilogy, The Mummy’s Riddle, places at No. 3.
The weekly Swedish bestseller lists remain largely unchanged the last week of September, and Jonas Gardell and Stefan Ahnhem once again claim the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the hardcover list. Gardell with In Memory of an Unconditional Love, and Ahnhem with Motive X. Ahnhem also comes in at No. 3 on the e-book list and No. 4 on the audio list.
Niklas Natt och Dag’s The Wolf and the Watchman likewise stays put at No. 3 on the paperback list, and comes in at No. 2 on the e-book list.
The just published The Innermost Room by Jørn Lier Horst debuts on the official bestseller list at No. 1 on the e-book list. The novel additionally claims the No. 4 spot on the hardcover list.
