Ingen skal drukne

Ingen skal drukne The Heirs of the Arctic

The Falck Saga #2

The Falcks are one of the most powerful families in Norway. And where there is power, there is envy and greed.

December 2015. Six months after the revelations in a long-lost testament shook the Falck family to its core.

Hans Falck, who had most to gain from the contentious will, lingers in a hospital bed in northern Norway, gravely injured in an accident. Meanwhile, Sasha Falck, who succeeded her father as the head of the family’s foundation, is pushing for a research expedition to the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic Sea. Yet there are reasons to be cautious – relations with Russia are strained, with Norway’s old Cold War adversary reborn.

The stakes are further raised when reports reach Sasha’s ears of a foreign spy in the foundation, sparking a desperate hunt for the mole. And as the expedition nears the spectacular landscapes of the High Arctic, international tensions threaten to spill over into outright conflict – with fateful consequences for the Falck clan.

The Heirs of the Arctic traces a tale of illicit love, geopolitical cat-and-mouse games and bitter power struggles, as the fate of one powerful Norwegian family becomes emblematic of the challenges facing Europe in the new century.

Reviews

  • “You won’t be able to put down this page-turner, with its intricate ramifications which also deals with the utopias of youth, the cynicism of adulthood, and the universal conflicts of loyalty.”

    Madame Figaro, France

    ★★★★★

    BTJ, Sweden

  • “Aslak Nore’s The Heirs of the Arctic mixes a Succession-style family saga with a geopolitical thriller. The book is the second in a series about the powerful Falck dynasty but Nore (…) drip feeds enough back story for this volume to stand on its own. The narrative moves smoothly between the snowy wastelands of the Arctic and the family infighting for control of the business. /…/ Vivid scene-setting adds to an intelligent, enjoyable mix with a sharp twist at the end.”
