Nils Lundkvist (b. 1982) is a middle grade teacher turned award-winning children’s book author. With a unique insight into children’s perspective, he has created a powerful series that combines a love of wilderness with his fresh voice in the dystopian genre. He made his splash debut in 2023 with The Cube, followed by The Bay, both part of the dystopian series The History of the Outer Wilderness. He resides in Skellefteå with his family.

Nils Lundkvist’s The Cube has been chosen as the winner of the 2026 Sigrid Literary Award. The award is presented in memory of the author Beppe Wolgers, with the aim of inspiring children to read. Each year, a winner is selected by sixth-grade students, who read all the nominated books.
